The GSAS Islam in the West Program cordially invites you to an introductory dinner meeting for the 2009-2010 series on Tuesday September 22, at 6:00 in room 208 at the Center for Middle Eastern Studies, 38 Kirkland Street.
This workshop is open to graduate students at Harvard who are working on topics related to Islam or Muslims in Europe, the United States, Canada, and Australia. Jocelyne Cesari and Ali Asani are the faculty sponsors for the series. In addition, faculty from around the country are brought to Harvard offering students an opportunity to have their research responded to by the top academics in their field. The workshop serves as a student-focused complement to an interdisciplinary research program focusing on Islam in the West. One of the primary objectives of the student workshop on Islam in the West is to bring students together from a number of departments and schools to examine issues of common interest from a genuinely interdisciplinary perspective.
This year, the Islam in the West workshop has been selected for sponsorship by the Center for Humanities, and we look forward to discussing with you programming and activities that may enrich your study and research.
