Biographical Statement

Zúquete is a researcher in political science. He received a PhD from the University of Bath (UK) and was a visiting scholar at Boston University. His previous work dealt with modernism and fascism, while his current focus is on contemporary populist movements both in Europe and in Latin America. Zúquete is the author of Missionary Politics in Contemporary Europe (2007), which is based on his dissertation, and he has written on the impact of Islam in European extreme-right narratives. Together with Charles Lindholm, he is currently working on The Struggle for the World? a study of anti-globalization movements, to be published in 2008. Zúquete will be in residence at CES for the academic year 2007-2008.
