Biographical Statement

Zippel is an associate professor of sociology at Northeastern University. Her current work is on the internationalization of academia. She has written on public and social policy, gender politics, social movements, law, and the welfare state. Her book, The Politics of Sexual Harassment in the United States, the European Union and Germany, was published in 2006. Other publications include "Transnational Advocacy Networks and Policy Cycles in the European Union" and "Paid to Care: The Origins and Effects of Care Leave Policies in Western Europe" (Social Politics). Zippel has been a fellow at the American Institute for Contemporary German Studies in Washington, DC, and the University of Athens; a postdoctoral fellow at Columbia University; and a visiting student at the European University Institute in Florence.
