Biographical Statement

Tallberg is an associate professor of political science at Stockholm University, Sweden. His research interests include international institutions, compliance and legalization in international cooperation, and multilateral negotiations, with a regional specialization in the European Union. He is the author of Leadership and Negotiation in the European Union (2006) and European Governance and Supranational Institutions: Making States Comply (2003). He has twice received the JCMS Award for the best article in a yearly volume of Journal of Common Market Studies. He is currently working on a project entitled "Power and Negotiation in the European Council," which maps and explains patterns of bargaining power at EU summits. He will be in residence at CES from January through June of 2008.
