Biographical Statement

Spiewak is an editor of the German weekly newspaper Die Zeit in Berlin. Mainly he writes about education and science politics. Other fields of interest are Islam in the Western world, ethics in medicine, and Latin America. He has launched the ZEIT-Studienführer, an annual guidebook for students. Spiewak is the author of Das Labyrinth der Fortpflanzungsmedizin (2005), a book on reproductive medicine. As a Bucerius fellow, Spiewak will be in residence at CES from September to December of 2007.
