Biographical Statement

Le Garrec is an economist at OFCEñCentre de Recherche en Économie (Sciences-Po) in Paris and teaches macroeconomics at the Université Paris Dauphine. He received a PhD from the Université Paris I Panthéon Sorbonne in 2001 for his thesis on the implications of social security on growth and inequalities. He contributes to the development of a world computational model (the INGENUE model) to study the global economic consequences of aging, social security reforms, migrations, and Asian catching-up. He is also working on the psychological basis of morality and the belief formation process to explain the EU-US differences of redistribution. Le Garrec will be in residence at CES from January through June of 2008.
