Biographical Statement

Haferkamp has participated in all the important milestones in the development of the EU, from the period of Paul Henri Spaak and Jean Monnet to Jacques Delors and José Manuel Barroso. She is currently organizing panel discussions with professors and students on the recent development of the EU: "Challenges for the Twenty-first Century: European and American Perspectives," at CES, the Kennedy School, and Tufts University. Several important figures have been among the speakers, including Bill Clinton, Valéry Giscard díEstaing, Javier Solana, Pascal Lamy, Mario Monti, Hans-Gert Poettering, and many others. In 2007, speakers come from the European Commission and the European Parliament, as well as from the European Central Bank. Topics for 2007 include European environmental, monetary, and energy policies, as well as the European Eastern policy.
