Biographical Statement
Norris is the McGuire Lecturer in Comparative Politics at the Harvard Kennedy School. She has also served as director of the Democratic Governance Group at UNDP in New York. She compares democracy, elections and public opinion, political communications, and gender politics worldwide. A public speaker and prolific author, she has published more than three dozen books, including: A Virtuous Circle (2000, awarded the 2006 Graber award), Digital Divide (2001), Democratic Phoenix (2002) and Rising Tide (with R. Inglehart, 2003), Electoral Engineering (2004), Sacred and Secular (with R. Inglehart, 2004, awarded the Hodgkinson prize), Radical Right (2005), and Driving Democracy (2008). Forthcoming books include Cosmopolitan Communications (with R. Inglehart, 2009), Public Sentinel (World Bank 2009), and Critical Citizens Revisited (2010).
