Biographical Statement
Jasanoff is associate professor of British history at Harvard, specializing in the eighteenth- and nineteenth-century British Empire. She is currently completing the first global history of loyalists who fled from the American Revolution and resettled in Canada, the Caribbean, Britain, Sierra Leone, and beyond. Her first book, Edge of Empire, examines British expansion in India and Egypt through the lives of art collectors. It was awarded the 2005 Duff Cooper Prize. A current ACLS Ryskamp Fellow, Jasanoff spent 2006–2007 as a fellow at the New York Public Library’s Cullman Center for Scholars and Writers. Her essays and reviews have appeared in publications including The New York Times Magazine, The London Review of Books, and The New York Review of Books.
