Biographical Statement

Hall is Krupp Foundation Professor of European Studies and faculty member in the department of government. His publications include Governing the Economy (1986), The Political Power of Economic Ideas (1989), Developments in French Politics I and II (1990, 2001), Varieties of Capitalism (2001), Changing France (2005) and Successful Societies (forthcoming) as well as more than sixty articles on politics and policymaking in Europe. Hall is co-director of the Successful Societies Program for the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research. His current research focuses on the distributive impact of efforts by European firms and governments to cope with international integration in the decades since World War II. He is also looking into the relationship between social relations and population health across nations.
