Philipp N. Lehmann

His previous work examined the cultural and institutionalorigins of the pro-colonial movement in Germany andon the development of imperial information networks inSouthwest Africa. His current research interests revolvearound colonial encounters and interactions with non-European environments. Lehmann's dissertation examinesthe role of real and imagined colonial landscapes in thehistory of German colonialism and imperial science duringthe late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Lehmannis also a graduate associate of the Center for History andEconomics at Harvard.
