Biographical Statement

Michlic is the director of HBI Project on Families, Children, and the Holocaust at Brandeis University. Her major publications include Neighbors Respond: theControversy about Jedwabne (co-edited with A. Polonsky), and her book Poland's Threatening Other: The Image of the Jew from 1880 to the Present. She is currently working on a single-authored monograph, Jewish Childhood in Poland, 1939–1950; and on Bringing the Dark to Light: The Memory of the Holocaust in Postcommunist Europe,(co-edited with J. Himka). Her research interests include the history and culture of East European Jewry, childhood in Eastern Europe, the Holocaust and its memory inEastern Europe, and nationalism and minorities in Eastern Europe.
