Biographical Statement

Cousin is a postdoctoral researcher at the Observatoire sociologique du changement (Sciences-Po/CNRS). After obtaining his PhD from Sciences-Po (France) and the University of Milan-Bicocca (Italy), he was a research fellow in the department of sociology at Harvard during the academic year 2008-2009. He will be in residence at CES as a Sciences-Po fellow from September through December 2009 to pursue his current fieldwork on comparative worldviews as a mode of perception and representation, studying the case of French expatriates and immigrants in the US. His research interests include urban segregation, upper-classes sociability, production of symbolic boundaries, elite modes of self-legitimization and social domination, international migrations, and grammars of public debates on immigration.
