Biographical Statement
Nitsch is a PhD candidate with research interests inboth ancient and modern political philosophy, as well ascontemporary democratic theory. His dissertation usesthe history of political thought to explain contemporaryskepticism about judgments of character in democraticpolitics, and to develop a more sympathetic account ofthem. He has served as a teaching fellow for courses inpolitical philosophy, the history of political thought, andAmerican government; last year he was a graduate fellowat the Safra Foundation Center for Ethics.
