Biographical Statement

Sferza’s research focuses on the long-term changes in partisan identities and the historical evolution of cleavage structures and party types. Her most recent publications are “The Third Way in France: Tertium non Datur?” in The Third Way and the Search for Social Justice (O. Schmidtke, editor, 2002), “Party Organization and Party Performance: The Case of the French Socialist Party” in The Future of Parties (R. Gunther et al., editors, 2002), and “What is Left of the Left? More Than One Would Think,” in Dćdalus (1999). Sferza is co-director of the MIT–Italy Program and teaches innovation and globalization. She co-chairs the Crisis and Reform in European Higher Education study group at CES.
