Biographical Statement
Penfold is interested in certain points of convergence between philosophical and legal thinking in the modern period. His dissertation, entitled "Transatlantic Private Law: Sociological Jurisprudence in France and the United States, 1870-1920," will investigate the links between French and American jurists at the turn of the twentieth century.
