Biographical Statement

Widdig is Director of the Office of International Programs and Director of the McGillycuddy-Logue Center for Undergraduate Global Studies at Boston College. He also teaches courses on nineteenth-century and twentieth-century German literature and culture. He is the author of Männerbünde und Massen: Zur Krise männlicher Identität in der Literatur der Moderne (1992) and Culture and Inflation in Weimar Germany (2001). Before joining BC in 2007, Widdig was Director of the MIT-Germany Program and Associate Director of the MIT International Science and Technology Initiative (MISTI). In recognition of his achievements in fostering German-American relations, he received the Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 2008.
