Biographical Statement
Taylor is associate professor of sociology and community health at Tufts University. She is the co-author of Local AIDS Policies and articles on policy-making, public health and comparative health care. She is co-editor (with J. Case) of Coops, Communes and Collectives. Her work has centered on institutional approaches to social and political analysis and, more recently, on the value and limits of cultural explanations. Empirical cases concern drug policy, the evolution of European blood systems post-HIV and the strategies of industrialized nations towards the AIDS epidemic. Her current research explores responses to cross-border health threats such as TB, avian flu, AIDS, and BSE, focusing on the European Union and its member states. This year she chairs The Health of Nations study group.
