Hilary Silver

Silver is associate professor of sociology and urban studies at Brown University. Her research focuses on social exclusion, urban poverty, inequality and discrimination in Europe and beyond. During the fall of 2008, she was an academic visitor at Nuffield College, Oxford and in 2009, assumed the Editorship of City & Community, the urban sociological journal of the American Sociological Association. Her symposium on “Participation in Urban Contention and Deliberation,” which she co-edited, will appear shortly in International Journal of Urban and Regional Research. Silver is co-chair of the Social Exclusion and Inclusion in an Expanded Europe Study Group.
