Biographical Statement

Papoulias is director of the Harvard Kennedy School’s Kokkalis Program on Southeastern Europe and co-chair of CES’s Southeastern Europe Study Group. She also contributes to the development of advancement strategies related to external university priorities, particularly those with global scope. Prior to Harvard, Papoulias worked at the Rasky-Baerlein Group, devising communication strategies and political, grassroots, and public information campaigns. She served at the US Embassy in Athens, was a consultant at Cambridge Energy Research Associates, and a training advisor to the Kuwaiti Foreign Service. Her research interests include democratization, Turkey, media and politics. She speaks Greek and has working knowledge of Persian. She received a BA from Wesleyan University and a master’s degree in law and diplomacy from The Fletcher School at Tufts University.
