Biographical Statement

Guenther is in her fifth year of graduate study at Harvard. She is researching the formation of the body schema concept in early-twentieth-century German, English, and North American neuropsychiatry, exploring the diverse national, institutional, and social contexts from which the concept emerged. Her larger project tracks the concrete and real ways in which doctors have understood the mind-body problem, in both clinical and experimental settings. Guenther has just returned from a year of archival research in Europe, which was supported by a CES fellowship.
