Biographical Statement
Ross is Morris Hillquit Professor in Labor and Social Thought and director of the Center for German and European Studies at Brandeis University and Professeur Associé à la Chaire Jean Monnet in the department of political science at the University of Montreal, Canada. He is a past chair of the European Union Studies Association (EUSA), and he has served as acting director of CES (1998–1999), executive director of the European Union Center at Harvard (1998–2000), and chair of the Council for European Studies (1990–1997). An officier of the French Ordre des Palmes Académiques, Ross is on the editorial boards of French Politics, Culture and Society; Journal of European Integration; Comparative European Politics; Sociologie du Travail; and other journals. His recent books include Euros and Europeans: EMU and The European Social Mode (with A. Martin et al., 2004), The Brave New World of European Labor (with A. Martin et al., 1999) and Jacques Delors and European Integration (1995). He is currently completing a study of European Union elites’ understanding of the contemporary crisis of European integration, whose research was supported by a Fulbright grant.
