Biographical Statement

Morgan is an associate professor of government and of social studies at Harvard. He is the author of The Idea of a European Superstate: Public Justification and European Integration (2005) and Liberalism, Progress, and Intervention: John Stuart Mill and Contemporary Political Theory (forthcoming). He is currently working on a book entitled The New Western Schism: Why Americans Love God and Europeans Don’t. Prior to becoming an academic, Morgan worked as a radio journalist. Morgan’s academic interests include contemporary political philosophy, classical social theory, nationalism, multiculturalism, the sociology of religion, and European integration.
