Biographical Statement
Hall is Krupp Foundation Professor of European Studies and a faculty member in the Harvard government department. His publications include Governing the Economy (1986); the edited volumes The Political Power of Economic Ideas (1989), Developments in French Politics I and II (1990, 2001), Varieties of Capitalism (2001), and Changing France (2005); and more than sixty articles on politics and policymaking in Europe. Hall is co-director of the Successful Societies Program for the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research. His current research focuses on the negotiation of economic flexibility and social protection in Europe during the postwar years and the impact of social relations on population health across nations. He is on leave in the spring of 2008.
