Biographical Information

Zimny is an assistant professor of sociology and is currently concluding a term as a fellow of the American Council of Learned Societies. With past appointments in the sociology department at Harvard and at Harvard Graduate School of Education, he has maintained a research and teaching focus on education, law and society, organizations, globalization, and health and illness. His work explores how economic development and the flows of globalization in Europe and Asia affect public health, the creation of knowledge societies, and the transformation of social networks. Zimny also studies organizational deviance and corporate governance within the United States and Europe. Zimny’s other research includes a comparative examination of the relationship between unregulated economic development, the global trafficking trade, and public health. Recent articles include “Human Trafficking, Economic Slavery and the Challenge of Global Development.”
