Biographical Information
Yack is Lerman-Neubauer Professor of Democracy at Brandeis University. A graduate of the University of Toronto, he received his PhD from Harvard in 1981 and has previously taught at Princeton, the University of Michigan, and the University of Wisconsin. He has published books on European radicalism, Aristotelian political thought, and the concept of modernity in modern social and political thought. He is also the editor of Liberalism Without Illusions, a volume of essays about the work of Judith Shklar. He is currently completing a book titled Nation and Individual: Nationalism and the Moral Psychology of Community in Modern Political Life.
