Biographical Information

Taylor is an associate professor of sociology and community health at Tufts University. She is the co-author of Local AIDS Policies and of articles on policymaking, public health, and comparative health care, and co-editor (with J. Case) of Coops, Communes and Collectives. Her work has centered on institutional approaches to social and political analysis, and, more recently, on the value and limits of cultural explanations. Empirical cases concern drug policy, the evolution of European blood systems post-HIV, and the responses of France, Britain, and the United States to the AIDS epidemic. Her current research explores responses to cross-border health threats (TB, avian flu, AIDS, BSE), focusing on the European Union and its member states.
