Biographical Information

Pérez is an associate professor of political science at Boston University, where she teaches courses in comparative and European politics. She is the author of Banking on Privilege: The Politics of Spanish Financial Reform (1997) and co-author (with M. Loriaux et al.) of Capital Ungoverned: Liberalizing Finance in Interventionist States (1997). Her articles on the politics of financial-system and labor-market regulation have appeared in Comparative Politics, Comparative Political Studies, International Studies Quarterly, and Governance, among other journals. She is also a contributor to Euros and Europeans: Monetary Integration and the European Model of Society (edited by A. Martin and G. Ross, 2004). Her broad interest is in the politics of institutional and regulatory change, and her current research focuses on the implications of monetary union for labor market regulation in Europe. Pérez co-chairs the Iberian Study Group.
