Biographical Information
Martin’s main interest is in the comparative politics and social consequences of economic policy. His most recent publication is The Euro and Europeans: EMU and the European Social Model (2004), including a chapter by him on the EMU macroeconomic policy regime, co-edited with George Ross. They previously co-edited The Brave New World of European Labor: Trade Union Responses to Economic Crisis in Western Europe. Other publications include “Social Pacts, Unemployment, and EMU Macroeconomic Policy,” “What Does Globalization Have to Do with the Erosion of Welfare States? Sorting Out the Issues,” “Macroeconomic Policy, Politics, and the Demise of Central Wage Negotiations in Sweden,” and Wage Bargaining and Swedish Politics: The Political Implications of the End of Central Negotiations. Martin edits the CES Working Papers.
