Biographical Information

Jones is vice president and executive director of the Gorbachev Foundation of North America and associate professor of sociology at Northeastern University. He is one of the founders of the Club of Madrid and is on its executive committee. His publications have focused on Soviet, Russian, and East European economic, social, and political affairs, and on issues of global change. He has published nine books and is currently completing one on patterns of post-communist political change. His current research is on the Mediterranean Rim, looking at trends in social and economic development that have implications for regional security and cooperation/integration. In the fall of 2006 he will be a visiting professor at the University of Paris–Sorbonne working on Mediterranean issues.
