Biographical Information

Since 1995 Ioannides has been Max and Herta Neubauer Professor of Economics at Tufts University. He earned his PhD from Stanford and has taught at Brown University, Boston University, Virginia Tech, and the Athens University of Economics and Business. He has published more than eighty scientific works. His research interests are economic growth and inequality, social interactions and networks, housing markets, and economic integration. He served as a member of the MacArthur Foundation Research Network on Social Interactions and Economic Inequality, and as a consultant to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, the European Investment Bank (Luxembourg), and other EU, US, and Greek institutions. His research has been funded by the National Science Foundation and most recently by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. His current work focuses on urban structure on a world scale and comparative urban evolution in the EU versus the US. Ioannides is co-chair of the Greek Study Group at CES.
