Biographical Information
Howorth is a visiting professor of political science at Yale University, Jean Monnet Professor of European Politics at the University of Bath (UK), and visiting professor at Sciences-Po (Paris). Recent publications include Security and Defence Policy in the European Union (2007), Defending Europe: The EU, NATO and the Quest for European Autonomy (with J. Keeler, 2003), and European Integration and Defence: The Ultimate Challenge? (2000), as well as articles on European security and defense policy in numerous journals and collected volumes. He is currently working on an EU-sponsored project on identity and defense issues. Howorth is a senior research associate at the Institut Français des Relations Internationales, Paris; a member of the scientific advisory committee of the European Institute for Public Administration, Maastricht; and European defense analyst for Oxford Analytica.
