Biographical Statement

Castaņo teaches both Masters and Ph.D programs on Gender Studies at the Complutense University and is the Director of research projects on gender studies in other universities, (UOC-Barcelona, Alcalá de Henares, Sevilla). Her research interest include the barriers women face while accessing male traditional fields of activity (i.e. male industries and occupations; the top positions in corporations) and the gender gap in accessing and using new information technologies. She is the author of The Women and the Information Technologies (2005). She is currently doing research about the Glass Ceiling (the set of subtle barriers that impede women from reaching the upper step of business, academics and politics) and the process and methods that would help to avoid those negative outcomes.
