Obligations as a Visiting Scholar

All Visiting Scholars are required to participate in the weekly Visiting Scholars' Lunch Seminar. This is an opportunity to present work in progress and get feedback from colleagues at the Center and the University at large.

Visitors are also required to make themselves available to consult with Harvard graduate students and to participate in sessions for undergraduate students who are writing senior theses. The training of students, both at the graduate and undergraduate levels, is one of the key missions of CES. For students, interaction with the Visiting Scholars can be very beneficial. In this effort, we hope to prepare our students to become the next generation of Europeanists both in the United States and abroad.

In addition to these requirements, CES expects that visitors will contribute more generally to the intellectual life at the Center, such as attending lectures, conferences, and weekly Friday Lunches.
