CDS Summer Internship Programs in Germany and Spain



Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst (DAAD) – German Academic Exchange Service

Highly qualified second- and third-year students are invited to apply for scholarships funding study, thesis research, and/or internships in Germany. All academic fields welcome. DAAD support is for a 4-10 month period in Germany during the German academic year. Short term: October 1, 2009 - January 31, 2010; Long term: October 1, 2009 - July 31, 2010. Application deadline: January 31, 2009

University Summer Course Grant: Undergraduate and graduate students may apply for scholarships for 3- to 4-week German-language summer courses at German universities which focus mainly on literary, cultural, political and economic aspects of modern and contemporary Germany. Application deadline: November 15, 2008

Intensive Language Courses: Graduate students in all fields of study except English, German, or any other modern language or literature are eligible to apply for 8-week summer language courses in Germany.

Study Scholarship
This graduate scholarship program for study in Germany is open to students about to complete their undergraduate studies.

RISE - Research Internships in Science and Engineering
Summertime internships with German doctoral students at universities and research institutions--no German required!

High Tech in Old Munich
A 4-week course (in English) with specialized workshops and seminars at the prestigious Technische Universität München. Site visits to major multinational corporations, and cultural excursions.

German Studies Research Grant
Funding for research in the US or Germany in all areas of contemporary German Studies.

EMGIP - Bundestag Internship
Two months at the German parliament for students who are fluent in German.

CDS Summer Internship Programs in Germany and Spain

The Summer Internship Program in Germany
This program provides practical training opportunities in Germany for American students and recent graduates and non U.S. citizens enrolled in an accredited U.S. college or university. Paid placements are available in business, finance, technical, and engineering fields for usually 6 (enrolled students) to 12 months (extension possible up to a total of 18 months for graduates). Programs start individually at the beginning of each month. Apply approximately 5 months prior to your desired start date. A limited number of stipends for one-month language courses is available if you qualify.

The Summer Internship Program in Spain
This program (June to August) provides an opportunity for American and Canadian students to complete professional internships in Spain in a variety of fields. Internships last for three months. All internships are unpaid. However, host companies will be asked to provide some form of non-monetary compensation, such as free housing, meals, and/or public transportation to and from work.
